Introduction

As a high school senior you have so many choices to make. One of the very first choices is what courses you want to take your very last year. I want to go on to college to be a double major in Elementary Education and English so I chose courses like journalism to improve my writing, and I took on an internship to see what its like to be teaching in a classroom and many more courses related to my future. So why would I even consider  taking a history course? If you heard all the great things I heard about this course you would of took it too.
      Its not just your basic history class. Of course this class has a major focus on World War II, but we didn’t just learn all the facts about World War II. We got so many perspectives on the war and the holocaust. We saw films where there were Germans defending their actions, and films where they were regretful. We also got the views of the Jews and members who survived the holocaust. We really were able to get behind enemy lines and really see why this all happened. It was really mind blowing to hear all these first hand accounts and to see both sides of the story.
      But the question has been proposed again; why would I take this course if it’s a history course? This course really taught me how to be aware and put myself in someone else’s shoes. This could relate to my future easily when a student is going through a hard time, or a fellow teacher is having some problems. This course really showed me that its not okay to just be a bystander. You can really make a difference by stopping something you know is morally wrong. Sometimes you really need to take a step out of your own world and see what is going on in someone else’s. Though you may not be able to always relate, just showing someone that your trying to understand is really meaningful.
      That is what this course is about and that is why I took it. It is hands down, one of the most meaningful courses I have chosen this year and really will and can help you in the future.
